The earliest insurance plans in the United States were offered between 1861-1865 but they were only for accidents related from travel by rail or steamboat. These insurance plans then paved way to more comprehensive plans that cover illnesses and injuries. Today, many insurance companies even offer cheap health insurance plans and auto insurance packages.
