Origin of Consumer Protection Law

Thanks to consumer protection laws, consumers are safeguarded for their purchases even when buying expensive items like laptop. The first consumer protection law however was made over beer. It was enacted in 1516 by Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria to limit the ingredients of beer to hops, barley and water.
