The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) finally approved the production of an anticoagulant drug considered as the first ever biological product produced by a genetically engineered animal. The drug ATryn, which is derived from the milk of goats, contains therapeutic protein that is used to prevent blood clots among patients with a rare disease called AT (hereditary antithrombin) deficiency. Individuals with this kind of condition are at risk of blood clots when they go through surgery and other medical operations.
ATryn is manufactured by GTC Biotherapeutics, Inc. and is made for patients with hereditary antithrombin deficiency with or without no exam life insurance. For more information about ATryn, read this article: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/138241.php
