Essay: Where did It Start?

Most people are now familiar with the word essay which we usually refer to a piece of writing. Nevertheless, the word essay actually has its french roots. The word essay is taken from the french word essayer which means to try or to attempt. Frenchman Michel de Montaigne is said to be the the first author who described his attempt to translate his thoughts into writing as essays.

Nowadays, essays are being used by many schools and colleges particularly when accepting and evaluating new students. Many subjects particularly those under the political science and law degrees also require students to answer tests or assignments in essay form. Essays nowadays are also popularly used to make a written argument, make manifestos, express points of view and even to narrate personal experiences and stories.

You would need school and office supplies for your essay work.
